Frankie: The Autobiography of Frankie Dettori

November 26th, 2015 · 1 Comment · Diverse, England

Actually I started on this book yesterday, and I didn’t think, I’d finish it already. But I got caught up in it, and had to listen a bit, when I had the chance. So I’m already done. Finito!

It’s not a new book, but I haven’t read it before, and I thought I might compell others to get into the reading game. In my book (sorry for the pun) there are too few people who are into the reading book thing. There’s no excuse anymore, as there are so many Audiobooks out there and this one is on audio as well and I listened it too rather than read it, as I do all books now a days. I have a subscribstion for where I also found this.

If you have reading difficulties or are on the go a lot, this is a very, very good option. You subscribe for 1 credit (one book a month), but of course you can buy to your hearts contend. That said being in Denmark, there are a lot of other options, and there is the American version of Audible as well. Yes they are seperate – the whole lincense thing again. I like to read about a lot of foreign stuff and people and that is why I’m on Audible. The Danish Library also have loads of Audiobooks. If you like a mix of things, there is also Storytel.

Frankie doesn’t beat about the bush and is not withholdning his own faults in his carrers ups and downs. Among other things he did once before* have a brush with drugs. That is just one of many difficulties he encountered through the years – among them a plane crash and loosing several friends associated with the racing.

The book is as far back as 2005 and it goes to show, he is not without faults – far from it but determind to keep going for the love of racing and the horses – and his recent wins shows that he is still at the top of his game.

If you’re a jockey, a fan or just at all interested in horse racing, you should read this book. And if anyone has doubts that even the best of the best have been severely down and out too – don’t be, Fankie has as well, but fought back. For more links to articles have a look at the Wikipedia link. And last but not least, please let me know what you think, if you get around to reading or listening this one.

P.S.: I decided to write this article in English, as you’ll have to be able to understand it anyway, if you want to read the book! And remember if you have medical approved difficulties reading, you can get free acces to the audio library E17, but that means living in Denmark and that is free.
